Teacher Interview with Jeanne Carroll

How would you describe your job to someone considering a teaching career?

I would tell them that your day flies by. You don’t ever have to be a clock-watcher again. As I was a lawyer, I totally appreciate that. It’s an on-your-feet type of job. You have to be able to deal with many different situations as they come at you. You have to be able to manage the paperwork and, if you’re in middle school, the attitude. But you have an opportunity. If you love what you teach, you have an opportunity to engage kids and to get them excited about whatever topic it is that you love to teach.
