I went through the teacher preparation program when I was 42 years old. I spent only Phase 1 with a teacher, who was wonderful and I feel very fortunate to have had her because she had humor. She taught 5th grade. She was an English teacher and I was science, so totally different, but just a wonderful personality. Then I went right into the classroom as an intern. I didn’t get the full benefit of the teacher preparation program. I felt that it was geared more for younger people and I also didn’t feel like I needed all of that preparation at my age and having had the experience that I had with this wonderful teacher.
