I like teaching Math for several reasons. Number one because urban schools, lot of the students that come having failed Math. They hate Math. They think they can’t do it and I love challenges. I love when somebody tells me ‘you know what, these kids are all F’s. They’ve all had F’s, they can’t do it.’ Show me can it be done. Show me it can be done. Can they close the achievement gap? Can they outperform the state average? It’s a challenge for me personally and I love challenges. I love succeeding in a subject where people say it cannot be done. I love the feeling of taking kids who failed to success.
