Former California Teacher who was teaching when Single Subject preliminary credential expired

If you are teaching when the credential expires and cannot renew, contact your employer about the possibility of acquiring an appeal to cover your service until you can complete the following requirements for a Single Subject Clear credential.

Unchecked check box Complete one of the following: +A Commission-accredited SB 2042 Professional Teacher Induction Program, if available (this option is available to all SB 2042 preliminary credential holders and to holders of Ryan preliminary credentials issued on or after January 1, 1999). An individual who completes the Induction program will not be required to complete requirements #9, 10 and 11 with the following exception: a Ryan preliminary credential holder must complete the CPR component noted in #9. +A Beginning Teacher Support and Assessment (BTSA) Program (this option is available to all SB 2042 preliminary credential holders and to holders of Ryan preliminary credentials issued on or after January 1, 1999). An individual who completes BTSA must also complete the three requirements below. +A fifth year of study at a California college or university with a Commission-accredited teacher preparation program, securing that institution's formal recommendation for the Clear credential. This option is available to all Ryan preliminary credential holders and to SB 2042 preliminary credential holders if neither an Induction nor a BTSA program is available. An individual who completes a fifth year of study must also complete the three requirements below.
Unchecked check box Complete health education that must include verification of training in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) that covers infant, child, and adult CPR skills. CPR certification must be completed while enrolled in a teacher preparation program.

Unchecked check box Complete computer education coursework that includes general and specialized skills in the use of computers in education settings.
