Former California Teacher who was teaching when Education Specialist Level I or Preliminary credential expired

If you are teaching when the credential expires and cannot renew in time, contact your employer about the possibility of acquiring an appeal to cover your service until you can complete the following requirements for an Education Specialist Level II or Clear credential.
The Level I or preliminary teaching credentials, valid for five years, cannot be renewed. You must complete all requirements to meet the Level II or Clear credential requirements before the credential expires.
