Helping Classified Staff Become Teachers

GRANTS

Did you know that there are grants to help classified employees become teachers?

This is great news because classified staff are already working in schools in various jobs, such as paraprofessionals, librarians, after school program staff, and other support staff positions. They are well-poised to take that next step of completing their college degree and getting a teaching credential.

California School Employees Association

Check out the various scholarship and grant opportunities on the California School Employees Association (CSEA) website. There, CSEA members can learn about the Member Career Grant, No-Cost College Programs, Member Reimbursement Subsidy, and No-Cost College Programs, and more.

California Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Program

The California Classified School Employee Teacher Credentialing Program addresses California’s teacher shortage in STEM (science, technology engineering, and mathematics), special education, bilingual education, and transitional kindergarten. The grant helps school districts recruit classified school employees into teaching careers and support their undergraduate education, professional teacher preparation, and certification as credentialed California teachers.
