What advice would you give to people considering a career in teaching?

From the first second that your students walk through your door, begin your endeavor to establish a supportive, responsible, community within. Be brave and take risks with new, innovative methods BUT, always make sure that you reflect upon your practice to ensure continued achievement for your students. Celebrate successes and give sincere praise. Hold true the belief that all children, no matter what their background may be, can and deserve to learn. Be extra kind to your custodial and secretarial staff because, whether you realize it or not, they are taking good care of you so that you can take excellent care of your students.

What's the best thing about teaching?

The best thing about teaching is knowing that I am able to share in their journey as they learn. It is such a gift to help each one of them discover how truly capable and amazing they are.
