What advice would you give to people considering a career in teaching?

My advice to people considering a career in teaching is following your passion of interest, be hard-working, be an active listener, be a team player, and be willing to take risks. You will learn so much from your students, their families and your colleagues. Apply those many lessons learned. Continue to be a life-long learner and be open to change.

What's the best thing about teaching?

The best thing about teaching is being able to support families with their young children with disabilities and their development. Many collaborative relationships are built with families to help develop their child’s potential. The rewards of helping to guide families and their children with resources and strategies to advance their children’s developmental skills are personally satisfying. There is also the joy of working with other professionals in the field of early intervention to advance these valuable philosophies for families and their children.
