What does it take to be a good high school teacher?
To be a good high school teacher, you need to definitely care about your students. Because if you don’t care, the students will not. They will turn you off because they realize that you don’t care and, they just kind of tune out. And they won’t learn a lot of the times. A lot of the times, you need actually press them and push them, you know, and just say, “You are going to finish this,…this paper or this test. You have to finish; you’re, I’m not going to give up on you.” You need to do this, especially when they say they can’t do it, you’re all, “No…no you’re staying here and you’re finishing and you’re not leaving unit you’re done.”
And you have to be prepared every day. I mean I can’t stress being prepared more. And again, you never will be prepared enough, but as long as you keep trying be prepared, it is better than not trying at all.
