Distinguished Teacher Marissa Miller

What advice would you give to people considering a career in teaching?

Teach from your heart and listen deeply, dialing into the needs of not only your students, but to their families. Lean on your colleagues and collaborate with an open mind. Teaching has been one of the most rewarding gifts of my life, a career that challenges, fills up my soul, and grounds me every day in knowing I am contributing something important to many important lives of both students and families.

What's the best thing about teaching?

The best thing about teaching is working as a part of an interdisciplinary team with colleagues, families, and students, each person contributing both knowledge and heart.
